The Red Devils must now get back on the road this week, this time to Covington against the 2-1 Eastside Eagles, who defeated Alcovy High School 16-6 last week. Eastside has a good defense and a talented Safety in Jamari Brown. Brown has snatched two Interceptions in 3 games ,which is above the national average so far early on this season. He also has a blocked field goal to his credit on the stats sheet.
The Devils would do well to keep him in check during the game when going on offense. They also need to keep tailback Taylor Carter in check, who has rushed for 175 yds and 2 TD's overall. The running game looks to be Eastside's strong suit as they are averaging 215.3 yds per game this year. They have many players in the rushing attack that they rotate around so LHS should be aware of.
The keys for LHS should be:
*Minimizing the Eastside "Ground and Pound" attack
*Minimizing Penalties and Mental Mistakes
*Finding Ways to Capitalize on Scoring Possessions
The Red Devils have work to do but we remain optimistic about the season despite the early struggles. There is plenty of football to be played, including beginning region play in two weeks against Walnut Grove. LHS is very young this year but they will grow and mature in time. Don't panic fans.
Looking forward to a great game Friday Night!
