This week the Red Devils return to action after a bye week to play the Clarke Central Gladiators, who come into this game with a record of 4-2 (1-1 in region and play and a perfect 3-0 at home). Clarke Central got beat up pretty bad in a tough game against the Buford Wolves 45-7 last week. Look for them to come ready to defend their home turf against Loganville. They have a strong quarterback in Jack Mangel who has thrown for 8 touchdowns and nearly 900 yds so far. They are averaging 33.16 points per game. Their offense has a combined 375.6 yds per game in both passing and rushing. Jack Mangel is averaging 179.8 yards through the air per game. Running back Jonathan Sewell is averaging 115.6 rushing yds per game. Defensive End/Linebacker Sam Tardits is averaging 1.2 sacks per game and overall Clarke Central as a defensive unit averages 5 sacks per game.
I think this is going to be a game that will come down to whether or not Loganville's defense can shut down the offensive weapons of Clarke Central. Coming into this game, It feels a lot like the Winder-Barrow game where Winder was averaging more than 40 points a game with their offense. We were able to hold Winder to just 17 in a close loss back on September 15th so we have shown that we could hold down the fort on high scoring offenses. On the offensive side, we have some guys that can take advantage of a weakness in the defense to make big plays, Wideouts Blake May, Donte Burton, halfbacks D'errius Hart and Prince Mukuna have shown that they can get free to make big plays. Utilizing them effectively will make a big difference.
Keys for LHS:
*Contain and Pressure the QB
*Avoid The Defensive Rush on Offense
*Control the Tempo of the game
*Take the crowd out of it (Homefield Advantage for Clarke Central has been perfect)
Be sure to tune in at 6:30 for the Alpha Communications PreGame, then keep it tuned for the game kicking off at 7:30 as we will be live in Athens.
Hope you'll join us Friday Night as the Red Devils look to get their second straight win
