This week the Red Devils travel to Athens once again, this time to play the Cedar Shoals Jaguars for the final road game of the season. Cedar Shoals comes into this week with a 3-4 overall and a region record of 0-3. This is an important game for the Red Devils as they cling to the final spot in the region playoff picture with just 3 weeks left in the season.. The averages for Cedar Shoals are low as they averaging 67.7 yds receiving, 161.5 yds rushing, they are averaging 16 touchdowns this year, have an average of 7.0 sacks this year and 5 interceptions. They have put 125 on points as a team this year and allowed a whopping 196 points. Offensive, they are led by QB Kiyonnice Smith with 403 yds and 4 TD's along with a variety of running backs who have accommodated for 10 TD's and 969 yds.
Last week Loganville used a freshman QB in Tanner Green and it was an interesting change. Green played late in the game two weeks ago against Clarke Central before getting the call last week. He went 16-20 for 69 yds with an INT. It will be intriguing to see who they go with at QB as they two freshmen with Green and Colton Gauthier plus Sr QB David Smith. Last week the defense played some strong football only allowing 6 points thanks to FG's but no TD's. They also forced a fumble and got an interception, had it not been for a blocking penalty they would have had a "pick 6".
This week, I look for Loganville to continue to play strong on defense against Cedar Shoals. Cedar Shoals has allowed a lot of points and not produced as many as Loganville so I think Loganville should be ok. Plus when you look at the fact that LHS has held teams like Winder and Flowery Branch to well below their high points this year, you come into this week with confidence they can stand up against a weaker Ceder Shoals team.
Keys to the Game:
*Keep Up The Strong Defensive Play This Week
*Move The Ball Down Field-Take Advantage of Possessions
*Take Control Of The Game
